The Rivers State Police Command confirms that all eight passengers onboard a helicopter that crashed into the waterways near Bonny in Port Harcourt are feared dead.

The crash happened around 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, when the Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, with registration 5NBQG, operated by East Wind Aviation, took off from the Port Harcourt Military Base, heading towards the FPSO–NUIMS ANTAN oil rig.

The aircraft reportedly went down in the Atlantic Ocean, close to Bonny Finima, with two crew members and six passengers onboard.

An initial report confirmed the deaths of three passengers, but the latest statement from the Rivers State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, suggests that all passengers onboard may have lost their lives.
