Tinubu congratulates Vietnam’s new President, Luong Cuong
President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Luong Cuong of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam following his historic election to the esteemed leadership position by the Vietnamese parliament.
Cuong, 67, has an extensive background in the Vietnamese army, having served for over 40 years, and has been a member of the Politburo since 2021. His election marks a significant milestone in Vietnam’s political landscape.

In a statement released through his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu welcomed President Cuong’s commitment to promote Vietnam “as a friend, a trusted partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community.”
Tinubu emphasized the strong and friendly relations that have developed between Nigeria and Vietnam over the years, highlighting the steady growth in trade and cultural exchanges. He noted that these ties are rooted in a mutual commitment to fostering a more peaceful world.
The Nigerian President assured President Cuong of Nigeria’s dedication to improving bilateral relations across various sectors, including trade, agriculture, food production, education, and cultural and technological exchange.
He expressed his hopes for President Cuong’s successful leadership in serving both his people and humanity at large.
