Pastor killed by gunmen on way to burial, kidnap 3 others
Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, have killed Apostle Ranti Ige-Daniel, a clergyman from the Royal Assembly Sanctuary in Lagos, in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Lagos-based pastor, originally from Mopa, was abducted along with three others on Thursday between Idofin and Makutu roads, just a few kilometers from Isanlu, the local government headquarters.
He had arrived in the community on Tuesday to attend a revival crusade.
Apostle Ranti Ige-Daniel, a Lagos-based clergyman, was reportedly killed by gunmen while on his way to a burial ceremony shortly after attending a crusade in Isanlu, Kogi State, on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the attackers opened fire on the pastor’s car when it encountered their barricade around 8:30pm. He was shot, and the gunmen then abducted the three other occupants of the vehicle, including a woman believed to be his fiancée, taking them into the bush.
A source close to the pastor’s family revealed that Ige-Daniel bled to death in the hands of his abductors as they transported him and the three others into the bush.
Rev. Dr. Francis Iselowo, a close associate of the deceased, confirmed that Ige-Daniel and his companions were en route to a burial in Isanlu when the gunmen attacked. “Your life was taken in a brutal manner, and three others remain in the hands of the terrorists,” he said, adding that the kidnappers were demanding N10 million per person.
Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Aya, for comment were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or text messages.
