IPOB kidnap Anambra House of Assembly Member, Justice Azuka
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Justice Azuka, a lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Azuka was kidnapped on Tuesday night while returning home along Ugwunapampa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, the state’s commercial hub.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said efforts were underway to rescue the lawmaker and apprehend his abductors.
Ikenga stated: “The Anambra Police Command has activated operational plans for the possible rescue of Mr. Justice Azuka, Honourable Member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North Constituency, and the arrest of his kidnappers.
“Preliminary reports indicate that on December 24, 2024, at about 9:20 pm, he was abducted by unidentified persons while returning home along Ugwunapampa Road.
“The Command is working on leads to ensure his rescue and bring those responsible to justice. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
Azuka, a member of the Labour Party, recently reclaimed his mandate after a court nullified the victory of Douglas Egbuna of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election.
