Kano govt commends Appeal Court’s ruling on Emir Sanusi
The Kano State Government has called on authorities and stakeholders to respect the recent Court of Appeal judgment that validated its chieftaincy appointments and restructuring of traditional institutions.
In a press briefing on Saturday at the NUJ Press Centre in Kano, top government officials, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Ibrahim Adamu; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Musa Bello; and Commissioner for Information, Hon. Halima Yusuf, emphasised the importance of compliance with the ruling.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, overturned an earlier Federal High Court decision, confirming the legality of the Kano State Government’s actions under the law passed by the Kano State House of Assembly.
Judgment Details: The court upheld the reforms and legalised all actions taken by the governor regarding chieftaincy appointments.

Government Appeal: Hon. Ibrahim Adamu stated, “The appellate court has fully quashed all decisions of the Federal High Court and upheld the state’s authority.”
Call for Peace: The government urged stakeholders to abide by the ruling to maintain peace and unity in the state.
The commissioners reiterated their commitment to preserving Kano’s cultural heritage while advancing its development goals. Hon. Musa Bello remarked, “This is a turning point for harmonising tradition with progress.”
Hon. Halima Yusuf added, “This victory reflects justice and fairness. It is a call to unite and foster equitable representation in Kano’s governance.”
