Sex worker kills Barman over N200 dispute

A shocking incident in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State has left residents in disbelief, as a minor disagreement over a N200 balance tragically escalated into a fatal stabbing.

The incident involved Riyanatu Musa, a sex worker, and Yohana Musa, a barman. According to reports, Riyanatu had purchased drinks from Yohana amounting to N1,700 but paid only N1,500, promising to settle the balance of N200 the following day. However, when Yohana demanded the balance, a heated argument ensued, culminating in Riyanatu stabbing him fatally in the chest.

During police interrogation, Riyanatu admitted to stabbing the barman. She explained that she had collected a dry gin popularly known as “Big Ben” and another drink, which brought her total bill to N1,700. She claimed the stabbing occurred during a moment of uncontrollable anger, not under the influence of alcohol, as she had consumed the drinks earlier.

Riyanatu, now in police custody, expressed regret over her actions, stating that she did not intend for the altercation to result in death.

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, providing updates on the case. He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice is served.

“We have the suspect in custody, and she has confessed to the crime. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident. The law will take its course,” Nguroje stated.
