UAE President to visit Nigeria in 2025 – Presidency

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has accepted an invitation from Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year.

The invitation was extended during bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, which President Tinubu attended as a guest of the UAE President.

The Nigerian leader arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday to participate in the forum, which focuses on global sustainable development and collective action to address challenges such as climate change, energy, and water crises.

On Wednesday, President Tinubu shared Nigeria’s stance on climate issues and other global challenges, while also congratulating the UAE for the successful event.

During their talks, Sheikh Mohamed thanked President Tinubu for accepting his invitation and emphasized the UAE’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation with Nigeria.

The leaders explored opportunities to attract investment into Nigeria, with President Tinubu highlighting the positive impact of his government’s economic reforms. He noted that these reforms have stabilized and grown the economy, encouraging foreign investors, including international oil companies, to commit to billion-dollar investments, signaling renewed confidence in doing business with Nigeria.

President Tinubu also expressed gratitude for the warm reception he and his delegation received during their stay in Abu Dhabi. He was accompanied by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Sheikh Mohamed was joined by several UAE officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Other attendees included Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; and UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al Shamsi.
