Police arrest 47-year-old man for raping 2-year-old step-daughter
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 47-year-old father for allegedly raping his two-year-old step-daughter.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a press statement issued to journalists in Gombe on Tuesday.
He said that the arrest was made following information received from the suspect’s wife.
He said, “On May 5, about 09:32 am, a formal complaint was received from one Hauwau Usman of Tudun Wada, Shamaki Quarters, Gombe.

“She reported that on May 5, about 09:00 am, her husband took his two-year-old stepdaughter to his room and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Abdullahi said upon receipt of the complaint, a team of policemen was drafted to the scene to arrest the suspect.
He said that both the victim and the suspect were rushed to the Specialist Hospital for medical attention, and the case would soon be charged to court upon completion of ongoing investigation.
In a similar development, the command also arrested Isah Adamu, 35, of Golkos Quarters, Billiri LGA, Gombe State, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.
Abdullahi said that on May 5, the suspect was reported to have lured the minor into a residence located at Awai Quarters, where he allegedly forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

He stated that the victim’s mother reported to the police, and the force promptly visited the scene and arrested the suspect. Both the suspect and victim were conveyed to the General Hospital, Kaltungo, for medical examination.
The police spokesperson stated that investigation was still in progress.
Furthermore, Abdullahi said that the command successfully apprehended a total of 18 suspects in connection with a series of criminal activities recorded across the state in the past weeks.
