ITN Token Card Distribution on Track in Bade LGA, Says HPO
The Health Promotion Officer (HPO) of Bade Local Government Area, Adamu Yarima Ali, has confirmed that the distribution of Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) token cards is progressing as planned in Gashua, the LGA headquarters.
He made this known during an interview with Neptune reporter on Monday .

According to Ali, the exercise is being well received in wards such as Zango, Lawan Musa, Lawan Fannami and Sarkin Hausawa, Katuzu and Gwio kura, where households have been turning out to collect their ITN token cards.
He explained that the ongoing seasonal Malerua chemoprevention (SMC) programme is aimed at preventing malaria in vulnerable groups, while the insecticide-treated nets will protect against mosquitoes that transmit the disease.

He further stated that if the intervention is successfully implemented by the end of the exercise, millions of children and pregnant women will be safeguarded from malaria, which will in turn help reduce maternal and infant mortality.
However, Ali expressed concern that the growing population in Gashua may not be fully covered due to the limited number of token cards available. Despite this, he remained optimistic that efforts would be scaled up ensure full coverage.
The HPO commended the government and development partners like the global fund, Malerua consortium among others in supporting the integrated malaria prevention campaign. He called for an increase in the number of token cards where necessary to ensure wider coverage.
He also appealed for additional logistics support to enable health teams to reach hard-to-reach communities and ensure effective service delivery.
Ali noted that community distributors have been deployed to all demarcated locations to issue the token cards and administer seasonal chemopreventive drugs to targeted households.
