Police arrest APC official over death of woman found near Federal University Gashua
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, Abdulmumini Garba, in connection with the death of a woman whose body was discovered near the Federal University Gashua on October 17, 2025.
Garba, who hails from Gasma in Karasuwa Local Government Area, serves as the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Karasuwa and also holds a position as Secretary of the Vegetables Market (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua.

According to police investigations, the suspect admitted to conveying the victim, identified as 45-year-old Falmata Abubakar of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua, in his vehicle. During the journey, an argument reportedly broke out after she requested financial assistance to support her business. The altercation allegedly escalated, leading to her death inside the vehicle.
The suspect further confessed to disposing of the body in a nearby bush around 10:00 p.m. on the same day — the exact location where it was later discovered by authorities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, commended the prompt action of detectives from Bade Division for their professionalism and commitment, noting that the breakthrough highlights the Command’s strong intelligence network and tactical operations.
He assured that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that the case will be charged to court upon completion. The Police Command also expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and urged continued support through credible information that could aid in fighting crime and maintaining peace across Yobe State.
