Dangote Group has entered into a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc. to advance the next phase of expansion at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The collaboration is expected to increase the refinery’s processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2028, positioning it among the largest petroleum refining complexes globally.
In a statement, the company said Honeywell will supply advanced catalysts, specialised equipment and cutting-edge process technologies to enable the refinery to process a wider variety of crude grades while improving product quality, energy efficiency and overall operational performance.
Honeywell—a Fortune 100 industrial and technology conglomerate—has maintained a long-standing relationship with Dangote through its UOP division, which has provided proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration units, column trays and heat-exchange technologies since 2017.

The partnership extends beyond refining. Dangote Group is also scaling up its petrochemical operations, with plans to expand polypropylene output to 2.4 million metric tonnes per annum using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology. Polypropylene remains a vital input for manufacturing, packaging and automotive production.
The Group is equally fast-tracking its fertiliser expansion programme. According to the statement, urea production capacity will rise from the current 3 million to 9 million metric tonnes annually. The existing facility comprises two trains of 1.5 million tonnes each, while the expansion will add four additional trains to meet growing demand across Africa and international markets.
