Trabzonspor president, Ahmet Agaoglu, says he is unhappy with the way the club parted ways with the midfielder, Mikel Obi.
The club terminated Mikel’s contract after just nine months at the club after he made a comment on Instagram asking for the Turkish League to be cancelled so players could be with their families.
According to Mikel, he was asked to take down the post which he refused to do and was later asked for a meeting where his contract was terminated.
But Agaoglu says he would have loved Mikel to continue with the club as he is fond of the player.
“The departure of every player in Trabzonspor makes me sad. I would like Obi Mikel to continue,” he told Turkish website 61saat.com.
“None of us have experience with coronavirus. You don’t know how people will react. When you look at history, you can see that such cases occur every 100 years.
He came and found us! One of the most important factors is that Mikel wanted to go to is his family living in London.”
