Turkey relays fears of potential Israeli strike to Iran

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has disclosed that Ankara has formally conveyed its concerns to Iranian authorities over the possibility of a potential Israeli military attack on Iran, amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters, Fidan said he personally communicated Turkey’s assessment to Iranian leadership in Tehran, stressing the need for restraint and de-escalation to prevent a wider regional conflict. He noted that the region is already under severe strain due to ongoing conflicts and heightened military posturing.

According to Fidan, Turkey is closely monitoring developments involving Israel, Iran, and the United States, warning that any military confrontation could have far-reaching consequences beyond the immediate parties involved.

“Escalation would not only threaten regional stability but also endanger global security and economic interests,” the Turkish foreign minister said.

Iranian officials, while not issuing a detailed response, have repeatedly warned that Tehran would respond decisively to any attack on its territory. Israel, on its part, has maintained a long-standing position that it will act to prevent Iran from acquiring capabilities it considers a threat to its national security.

Turkey has continued to position itself as a diplomatic interlocutor in the Middle East, calling for dialogue, respect for sovereignty, and adherence to international law.
