GCC condemns Iran while ignoring attacks launched from its own member states

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Wednesday condemned what it called “Iranian aggression” against Bahrain and Kuwait, claiming Tehran’s actions reflect a continued pursuit of hostile policies that threaten regional security and international peace.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the Iranian strike that reportedly targeted Bahrain, expressing solidarity with the kingdom amid the latest escalation.

The statements come as GCC states continue to ignore allegations regarding the role of some Gulf countries in facilitating US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Tehran has accused Bahrain and Kuwait of being directly complicit in recent strikes on an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz and a communications facility on Qeshm Island, claiming military facilities within both states were used to support the operations.

Iranian officials maintain that countries providing logistical or military support for attacks against Iran share responsibility for the consequences, arguing that their recent missile and drone operations were a response to the latest US-led strikes.

While GCC leaders have focused their criticism on Iran’s retaliatory actions, they have not addressed Tehran’s accusations concerning the alleged use of Gulf-based facilities in military operations against Iranian targets.

The exchange underscores deepening tensions across the Gulf as competing narratives continue to emerge over responsibility for the latest round of military escalation.
