Suspected case of Covid-19 in Potiskum

Following reports of a suspected case of COVID-19 at General Hospital Potiskum yesterday, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Gana, led a team to the town yesterday.
According to a report, a 30 year old truck driver who came from Lagos on 1st April 2020 was presented at PHCC Dogon Zare on 2nd April 2020 with complaints of cough, fever and difficulty in breathing.
He was assessed and then referred to General Hospital Potiskum.
The report further said all necessary public health measures have been done while his samples were taken and sent to the NCDC reference laboratory in Abuja.
In the meantime, the patient is being evaluated for other possibilities and is receiving appropriate care.
The Honorable Commissioner for Health assures the general public that government is on top of the situation and there is no cause for alarm.
He was accompanied on the visit by the Executive Secretary Yobe State Primary Health Care  Management Board (YSPHCMB), Dr Babagana Kundi Machina, Director Nursing Services State  Ministry of Health, Abdullahi Ali Danchua, Assistant Director, Health Promotion, YSPHCMB, Umar Kwanda and the State Health Promotion Officer, YSPHCMB, Mohammed Kado Abubakar.
Both the Director Personnel Management and the Director Primary Health Care of Potiskum Local  Government Authority  thanked the Honorable Commissioner and his entourage for their prompt intervention and pledged to continue efforts at community sensitization concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.
