7 killed, several injured as Boko Haram strikes Adamawa community
No fewer than seven persons have been confirmed dead and many others injured following a deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on a community in Adamawa State.
Residents said the assailants stormed the town in the early hours of the morning, firing indiscriminately and throwing the area into chaos. Witnesses reported that the attackers moved from house to house, setting some buildings ablaze and forcing terrified villagers to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
Local sources disclosed that the victims included men and women, while several others sustained gunshot wounds and injuries from the ensuing stampede. The injured were reportedly evacuated to nearby health facilities, where they are currently receiving treatment.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the attack as sudden and devastating, noting that many families have been displaced as a result. “We were caught completely off guard. People ran in different directions to escape. Some are still missing,” he said.

Security operatives were later deployed to the area to repel the attackers and restore order. Military authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but sources indicate that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing insurgents.
The latest assault underscores the persistent security challenges in parts of northeastern Nigeria, where communities continue to face sporadic attacks despite sustained counter-insurgency operations by government forces. Residents have called for increased security presence to prevent further tragedies.
