A man simply identified as Dedoon has beaten his wife to death in Adekaa suburb of Gboko in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for Benue Command, Moses Joel Yamu, said the man killed his wife on Sunday at about 3:30pm on Joseph Tiah Street in Gboko North and took to his heels.
“The police got to the scene and took her to the hospital where she was confirmed dead while a blood-stained axe believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene,” Yamu said.
The PPRO added the command was working to arrest and prosecute the fleeing suspect.
Witnesses said the fleeing husband had locked up the room while he battered his wife to death and thereafter escaped through the window.
