Tinubu swears in Gen. Musa as new defence minister

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday officially swore in former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence.

The brief ceremony, held at the Presidential Villa, came less than 24 hours after the Senate screened and confirmed Musa’s nomination.

Tinubu had sent Musa’s name to the Senate earlier in the week following the resignation of Mohammed Badaru, who stepped down from the role on health grounds.

Musa’s appointment comes amid rising security challenges across the country, with the government counting on his extensive military background to bolster ongoing counter-terrorism and internal security efforts.
