A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Malam Bibi Dogo has charged the Federal House of Representatives seat of Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa Balewa vacant due to the defection of former Speaker, Yakubu Dogara from PDP to APC without any cogent reason.

Dogo stated this in a statement issued to newsmen in Bauchi on Monday, that the defection of Dogara is an act of political indiscipline and that the people of  Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa who elected him under the flat form of PDP were no longer comfortable with his continuous defection in the House.

“We don’t know of any convincing reason why he defected to APC, he didn’t consult us before his defection. I hereby call on the Reps leadership to quickly declare Dogara’s seat vacant to enable the constituents to elect a capable replacement.

“The people of the area would set a machinery in motion for Dogara’s recall, the process would soon commence in earnest because we will not condone political indiscipline.

“The reasons given by Yakubu Dogara in a letter sent to his ward chairman are nothing but flimsy excuses.

“On the alleged money that was awarded for the purchase of vehicles in the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed, the money is 3.6 billion and not 4.6 billion as wrongly cited by Dogara who is also one of the beneficiaries of the vehicles.

“Concerning the delayed local government elections in the state, it was COVID-19 pandemic that delayed the elections and a date has been fixed by the State Independent Electoral Commission for the election to be conducted in October”, the statement read.

He said it was a shameful act for Dogara who dumped APC in 2019 elections, could “so quickly return to pick the same broom he said was not sweeping well.”

Dogo alleged that there were talks from many quarters that Dogara’s return to APC was initiated to cover himself from the mess of NDDC that is now booming.

He alleged that Dogara had made three defections in recent times, having moved from PDP to APC ahead of the 2015 general elections, he moved again from APC to PDP ahead of 2019 general election and now he moved from PDP to APC.

Dogo said, “His jumping from party to party smacks of political indiscipline but you know that a rolling stone gathers no moss.

“Unfortunately, too, he lacks the political discipline to be trusted with any public office in Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa Balewa.

“How can you trust a man whose only political antecedent is jumping from one party to another?”
