Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Aston Villa on Monday that keeps the Villans above the Blues in the Premier League table. Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for Chelsea after 34 minutes from a Ben Chilwell assist but Anwar El Ghazi levelled for Villa just five minutes into the second half after being teed up by Matty Cash.
The Blues went into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat in the London derby against Arsenal on Boxing Day.
Olivier Giroud got the first goal of the game with a header from a cross by Ben Chilwell to give Chelsea the lead in the 34th minute at Stamford Bridge.
Villa drew level in the 50th minute through an effort by Anwar El Ghazi who put the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The draw means Chelsea takes the sixth position in the Premier League table with Aston Villa in fifth on goal difference.
The Blues welcome Manchester City in their next Premier League game scheduled for January 3, 2021.
