The chairman of Kalgo Local Government Council of Kebbi State, Alhaji Umaru Namashaya has threatened that the local government would not pay workers who do not posses voters’ card their September salaries.
The council chairman made the statement while speaking to newsmen on Friday.
He said workers on the local government’s payroll who failed to obtain the voters’ card would not be going to be paid their September salaries.
“I have sat with directors and councillors of the local government and I told them anybody who does not have a voters’ card would not be paid his September salary no matter what position he is holding in the council”. the chairman revealed.
Namashaya explained that the decision was to canvass votes for President Muhammadu Buhari and Kebbi State governor Abubakar Bagudu in the next year’s general elections.
He stressed that there are places of worships in the country that resort not to allow their members to attend congregation if failed to obtain the voters’ card adding that the local government decision is not a strange thing.
