How police attached to MTD in Kano, returned N1,294,200 found in accident scene

The Kano State Police Command said that its personnel, Sgt Kabiru Isah attached to the Command’s Motor Traffic Division (MTD) has returned the sum of N1,294,200 found at the scene of a fatal accident.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna said the officer discovered the money while conducting a scene analysis, minutes after the fatal accident.

The owner of the money was knocked down by a trailer along the Zaria Road in Kano while on his motorcycle and had the said amount of money, arranged in a shoebox.

Handing over the money to the relatives of the deceased, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko called on other police officers, and the good people of the state, to emulate the behaviour displayed by Sgt Isah.

He also commended the officer for doing his job in accordance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Alkali Baba Usman.

“Overwhelmed with the behaviour displayed by the police officer, the Managing Director, Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), DR Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, rewarded the officer with the sum of N100,000”, the statement said.

Adding that While handing over the money through the State Traffic Officer (STO), SP Magaji Musa Majia, MD KAROTA stated that, “he was happy that the police officer involved is attached to the Traffic Division of the Command and also called on the good people of the state to emulate the good behaviour displayed by the officer, we appreciate what the police are doing in Kano” the MD said.
