JISOP vows to partner with stakeholders in promoting activities of Social Protection Policy in Jigawa

The Jigawa social protection platform has vowed to partner with all relevant stakeholders in form of facilitation and advocacy for the scale-up of inclusive social protection across the 27 LGAs of Jigawa State and to create awareness on the social protection-related programs and activities.
In a statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Shuaibu Musa Kafin-Gana stated that the platform has among others, facilitated awareness, creation of disability law and launching of the disability fund, social protection policy, SP implementation framework, SP bill, Jigawa maternal and child cash transfer program, conducted post-distribution monitoring of COVID-19 palliatives across the three senatorial zones.
The platform has also engaged and advocated relevant agencies and partners at the state and LGA levels for the provision of SP programs.

“JISOP appreciates the outcome of the Sensitization for Jigawa State LGA Chairmen on inclusive Social Protection organized by Expanding Social Protection for Inclusive Development Program (ESPID), and implemented by Action Against Hunger and Save the Children International funded by FCDO in which the LGAs councils promised and committed to contributing toward the actualization of Disability Fund through monthly contribution”.
It appreciates the commitment of the 27 LGA chairmen, vice-chairmen, speakers, secretaries, councillors, supervisory councillors and advisers for committing to support the Jigawa State Disability Fund.
The Jigawa Social Protection platform is a non-governmental platform that comprises Civil Society Organizations, professional bodies, academia and media with a bid to promote transparency, accountability and engender social justice in the implementation of inclusive Social Protection Programmes in the state.
The platform partners with each of the 27 LGA chairmen and their vice-chairmen to contribute five thousand naira and two thousand naira respectively every month directly from their salary to the Disability Trust Fund.
Each of the LGA speakers and secretary to contribute one thousand naira monthly. The councillors, supervisory councillors and LGA advisors will contribute five hundred naira each monthly directly from their salary.
Similarly, The LGAs chairmen have agreed to work together with the Rehabilitation Board towards the replacement of the beneficiaries of the Social Security Scheme for PWD that have died, as well as support poor and vulnerable across their LGA around the opening of bank accounts, NIN registration to enable them to benefit from various federal and state governments social interventions particularly the ongoing RRR registration.
These pledges will positively contribute toward addressing basic needs for PWDs, poor and vulnerable in the state.
While commending the commitment of the 27 LGA chairmen towards assuring a way forward to salvage the lives of PWDs in the state. The Jigawa social protection platform prayed that their commitment to funding the Disability Trust Fund would be successful, sustainable and the utilization of the fund be productive and accountable.
The government assured to assign competent and trusted individuals to man the established trust fund meant to better the lots of PWD and the vulnerable across Jigawa State for better living.
