National Convention: We must avoid PDP’s self-destruction; no sabotaging Gov. Buni-led CECPC reconciliatory moves, by Yusuf Ali

Governor Mai Mala Buni and Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), since the declaration of the date for the convention has devoted all his time in stepping up reconciliations and peace moves among party ranks in ensuring a rancour-free national convention to capped the marvellous achievements of the CECPC.

Governor Buni has now sacrificed his comfort working all round the clock, closing late night in making sure that all differences are amicably resolved in the interest of our great party. He has done his best and still doing it as part of mandate to bring peace to our great party. We need to support him.

For a large and governing party like the APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni has always toed the line of compromise, temperance, internal democracy as well as diplomacy and tackled internal squabbles, whenever they occured as a family affair.

As party stakeholders, it is important to put aside our differences, and give unflinching support to the Governor Buni-led CECPC and support its reconciliation and peace moves to enable it achieve our expectations, as united and one indivisible APC ahead of the national convention. This is must for us if we really want a viable platform to achieve our political goals.

As Governor Buni is taking all the necessary steps to unite and strengthen our great party, our members should answer a call to duty for our great party and fatherland. History is beckoning on us to keep our house in order. We must move into the convention with a strong conviction that we should never allow the house we jointly built to be pull down because of our personal interests.

The APC is a progressive party institution for Nigeria and all Nigerians. Let’s not forget that the party is greater than all of us and we don’t have any party other than APC. We must guard it from any internal or external forces working against it. This is the only way we can project our party and ensure Nigerian democracy.

The party has overcome its challenges. It has gotten better. We shoudn’t relent in this direction and the only way we can continue to do this is to put our party together, and avoid anything that will disintegrate our party. We should know that progress is fragile and easily undone while destruction is easily transacted but hard to undo. Let’s not do anything that will bring down the house we worked hard to build from scratch or bring our enemy’s rubbish into it. Tufiakwa! God forbid that will never happen.
