ABU Zaria set to resume after suspending academic activities indefinitely

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, which had previously postponed its resumption indefinitely, has announced a new date for the commencement of academic activities. The university is set to resume on the 19th of June 2023, just as the Eid Kabir Sallah celebration looms.

The reason behind the initial postponement, which was not explicitly stated in the official bulletins, has been widely speculated to be the persistent blackout that has significantly affected the teaching and learning environment for both lecturers and students.

The university administration acknowledged the need to address this issue and create a conducive atmosphere for academic activities to thrive. Hence, the restoration of power supply in the university.

Following this incident, students who had returned home during the period of the postponement are now being called back to resume their studies as the school officially announced commencement of educational activities from Monday 19th of June 2023.

In anticipation of the students’ return, a lecturer from the university took to his Facebook page to express his excitement about the resumption and urged students to be prepared for the continuation of their academic pursuits. The lecturer’s post further confirmed the university’s readiness to resume.

In another post, the lecturer hilariously said it is up to the student to decide whether or not to enjoy the sallah celebration before resumption, however lectures are expected to commence immediately.

Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that the Eid Kabir Sallah celebration is scheduled to take place from the 28th to the 30th of June, which implies that students will have a relatively short period of time to settle back into their academic routine before the holiday break.

With the resumption date now set, students and faculty members have mixed feelings, the short period in school and having to return home for the coming break and the joy of resuming the academic journey, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities which lies ahead.
