Adamawa govt cancels New Year’s Eve celebrations over security concerns

The Adamawa State Government has officially cancelled all planned activities for the New Year’s Eve crossover night on December 31, 2025, at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta, Yola.

According to a statement from Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the decision was made following credible intelligence indicating potential security threats.

Wonosikou emphasized that the safety and security of residents remain the state government’s highest priority. He assured that authorities will continue collaborating with security agencies to maintain peace and stability in Adamawa.

Citizens, particularly those in Yola North and South local government areas, were urged to stay vigilant, avoid crowded places, and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. The government promised to provide further updates as the situation develops.
