Recall that the embattled REC was suspended by president Muhammadu Buhari based on recommendation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following his unconstitutional role during the April 15 Adamawa State supplementary election.

Yunusa-Ari was enmeshed in the election drama after declaring Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the poll while collation of results was still ongoing.

Recall on Monday that Yunusa-Ari was invited to face a joint panel consisting of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Department of State Security (DSS), and the INEC after his role in the election.

Top officials of the electoral umpire had to intervene on the election and ensured that the process was followed according to the 2022 Electoral Act.

The election was however concluded and declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the authentic winner of the election.
