Air Force officer arrested with firearms en route to Abuja — NDLEA
A Nigerian Air Force personnel, ACM Anas Muhammed Fakai, has been arrested by troops of the 12 Brigade at Kabba Junction in Lokoja for allegedly transporting firearms to Abuja.
The arrest, which took place around 10:22 p.m. on Tuesday, was carried out in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Fakai, attached to the 107 Air Maritime Group, Airport Road, Benin, was found with two pump-action rifles and a Browning pistol.
During interrogation, the airman reportedly confessed that the weapons were meant for Constable Mohammed Auwal Haliru at the Police Headquarters, Abuja — an orderly to a Commissioner of Police — and were handed over to him by Inspector Paul of the Edo State Government House security unit.

Fakai remains in military custody pending further directives, with investigations ongoing to determine the extent of security personnel involvement.
Troops Intercept Cannabis Shipment to Kogi
In a separate operation, the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army intercepted a major consignment of Cannabis Sativa being transported from Ekiti to Obajana, Kogi State a location identified as a hotspot for criminal activity.

Troops on routine stop-and-search operations at Agbede intercepted a Toyota Camry conveying the drugs on November 24, 2025. The army says the operation aligns with efforts to disrupt the flow of illegal substances fueling banditry and violence in the region.
Authorities have not disclosed whether additional arrests linked to the firearm and drug interceptions will follow.
