Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt settle divorce after 8-years of legal battle
After an eight-year legal battle, Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have officially finalised their divorce, marking the end of one of the entertainment industry’s most closely followed separations.
It was confirmed on Monday by Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, in a statement to People Magazine. Simon shared that Jolie is focused on “finding peace and healing” for her family.
“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago,” Simon stated. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Jolie, 49, filed for divorce from Pitt, 61, in September 2016 after two years of marriage and a decade-long relationship. Once hailed as Hollywood’s power couple, their split has been marred by a series of legal disputes involving child custody and financial matters.
In 2018, the pair reached a custody agreement for their six children, three of whom are adopted. However, the arrangement has faced challenges over the years, keeping the family in and out of court.
Beyond custody, the couple has also been embroiled in a legal clash over Chateau Miraval, a French vineyard and estate where they tied the knot in 2014. The dispute stems from Jolie’s sale of her share of the property, which Pitt contested.
Pitt and Jolie’s romance began on the set of the 2005 action-comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith, where they played married assassins. Their relationship sparked media frenzy, particularly as Pitt was married to actress Jennifer Aniston at the time.
The couple, known affectionately as “Brangelina,” became symbols of Hollywood glamour and philanthropy, adopting children from Cambodia, Ethiopia, and Vietnam while also raising three biological children.
With their divorce settlement now behind them, both Pitt and Jolie can focus on the next chapters of their lives. For Jolie, the priority is her children’s well-being. Pitt, meanwhile, continues to make headlines with his work in the entertainment industry and ongoing business ventures.
