Arewa YLF celebrates 5-year anniversary, new leadership
On September 1st, 2018, the Arewa Young Lawyers Forum (Arewa YLF) was established in Abuja by a group of visionary leaders from various branches of the Nigerian Bar Association – Young Lawyers Forum.
According to a statement by the outgoing Chairman, O.D Jimoh stated that the forum aimed to be a strong collective voice, representing the interests of young lawyers from the northern region. Five years later, on August 31st, 2023, the pioneer leaders voluntarily stepped down, handing over the reins to a new set of leaders.

Under the guidance of the initial leaders, including:
1, O. D Jimoh – Chairman
2, Gotom Samson – Vice Chairman
3, Haruna Musa Muhammed – Secretary
4, Isaac Fumen Gandu – Assistant Secretary
5, Audu Umaru Master – Welfare Secretary
6, Ahmed Khalil – Treasurer
7, Paul Gbande – Publicity Secretary
8, Isa Habila Barau – Financial Secretary
9, Abdulsalam Hussain – Provost
Achieved several noteworthy milestones, these accomplishments include promoting and sustaining the forum, drafting a constitution, organizing the first summit in Abuja, registering a bank account, securing office space in FCT, and facilitating a smooth transition to new leadership.
One significant recognition of the forum’s influence is the co-option of three pioneer leaders into the Nigerian Bar Association’s National Executive Council by NBA President Y.C Maikyau SAN, OON.

The outgoing pioneer leaders expressed their congratulations and assured the members of the forum’s support. They extended their appreciation to all members for their unwavering dedication during their tenure.
The outgoing Exco also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Constitution Drafting Committee, led by Sani S. Idris of Kaduna Branch and the Summit Planning Committee, chaired by Dayo Ashonibare, as well as the guidance and advice received from esteemed bar leaders, K.K Eleja SAN, Tijjani Alkali Gazali SAN, Chief R.O Balogun, Mr Liman Salihu, Mr Aminu Sani Gadanya and Hajia Muhammad Adama.
In conclusion, the pioneer leaders celebrated their accomplishments, recognizing the lasting impact they have made and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
