Atiku Abubakar loses closest aide, Umar Pariya

One of the closest aides to Nigeria’s former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Umar Pariya is dead.

Mr. Pariya died on Tuesday morning in Dubai after a brief illness.

In a tweet by the former vice president, he said “Umar Pariya was much more than a longstanding aide to me; he was incredibly loyal and qualified as a member of my family. He will be missed. May Allah comfort his family, forgive his sins and grant him AlJannah Firdaus. Ameen”.

A family source who confirmed the death said the deceased had been on life support for about two weeks ago.
