Atiku, Gov. Fintiri react to low turnout of voters in Adamawa
Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has said the incompetence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) caused low voter turnout in Adamawa State.
Speaking on Saturday, Atiku accused INEC of being partisan and incompetent in the presidential election, hinting this discouraged residents of Adamawa State from participating in the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

“Sadly, there’s a low voter turnout in today’s election, no thanks to INEC’s partisanship and incompetence that delivered a sham election on February 25.
“I hope the electoral body will seize this second chance to redeem its discredited reputation,” the former Vice President wrote on his Twitter verified handle
Similarly, Adamawa State Governor and the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Saturday’s election, Ahmadu Fintiri, has commented on the electoral process in the state,
Fintiri while suing for peace urged other governorship candidates to be ready to accept defeat at the end of the ongoing governorship and House of Assembly Election.
Speaking shortly after casting his vote at unit 004 in Kirchinga Ward of Madagali Local Government Area, expressed optimism about the process.
He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election up to the time he voted around noon, urging INEC to ensure that the entire process turns out to be credible.
At the guber election, Fintiri faces a major opponent in the person of Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani who is contesting in the governorship election as a candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Twelve other candidates were registered for the election but six of them had earlier stepped down for Fintiri while one, the candidate of the Labour Party, Umar Mustapha, stepped down for Binani.
