Bandits kill district head, APC Chairman, hundreds in Katsina State within weeks

Suspected bandits on Sunday, 31st May, 2020 stormed Yan’Tumaki community in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State and shot dead its traditional ruler, Alhaji Atiku Maidabino, a source has said.

The details of how the traditional title holder was killed is still sketchy and at the time of compiling this report, multiple sources revealed to Neptune Prime that the bandits gunned him down in cold blood, said the source, who requested not to be named for security reasons.

This happened barely few hours after unidentified gunmen murdered the Batsari Local Government Area Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Abdulhamid Sani Ruma.

Reports said that the party chief was killed when he arrived his home-town of Sabon-Gari Danbasawa, from Batsari town.

Another 18 persons were confirmed killed in the Faskari local government of Katsina state, which made residents to flee from their houses.

Armed bandits in the Northwest have killed hundreds in the past few weeks, which has added to the security challenges in the North, which is trying to contain Boko Haram insurgencies and communal violence over grazing sites in the central states.
