The Bauchi State Ministry for Budget and Economic Planning has conducted a public hearing across the three senatorial zones of the state on the 2022 proposed budget.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the hearing held at Zaranda Hotel Bauchi, the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Aminu Hammayo said the hearing was aimed at getting the input of people at the grassroots before drafting the budget so that it will be in line with the citizens’ demands and aspirations.

Hammayo said the public hearing would also allow for wider participation and all-inclusiveness of citizens to create a sense of ownership and sustainability of government projects.

“The process has started in line with the provision of the law in the preparation for the budget.

“This also gives us an opportunity as government to interact with people and we considered it as a mechanism for feedback”. He said.

The commissioner urged the participants to provide useful inputs and pieces of advice in line with the development objectives of the state government and its funding constraints.

On his part, the state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki assured that the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed would continue to execute and implement people-oriented projects that would improve their living conditions through putting their inputs in the budget process.
