Bauchi Emirate sacks 55 traditional rulers
The Bauchi Emirate Council has taken the decision to suspend the turbaning of 55 traditional rulers in the state due to their alleged breach of established turbaning procedures.
The council, in a recent meeting, issued a warning to district and village heads within the Emirate to refrain from hasty coronations and to adhere to the relevant authorities’ guidelines for turbaning.
The chief information officer of the Emirate, Babangida Hassan Jahun, revealed in a statement that the suspension was a result of five village heads in Miri district installing ‘traditional title holders’ without following due process.

Those affected include Lushi Takololo, Yayirc, Baram Gada Ta Kasa, Wuntin Dada, and Sabon-Garin Birshi Gandu.
Furthermore, the Emirate Council also issued a warning letter to the district head of Miri, Hussaini Abubakar Othman, and the village head of Birshi, Muhammadu Lawal Ahmed, for their failure to enforce compliance with turbaning procedures for the suspended traditional title holders.
This decision comes after the suspension of six traditional rulers earlier in the year, following the dethronement of Muhammadu Bello Kirfi as Wazirin Bauchi.
