Borno Commissioner for works issues ultimatum to poor performing contractors

The Borno State commissioner for Works and Housing Adamu Lawan has given one-week ultimatum to contractors handling the remodeling of two storey Government Lodge to install thunder arrestor and earth fitting cables or stand the risk of losing their money.

Lawan gave the ultimatum when he visited the site to monitor compliance with the earlier directive given to the contractors to that effect.

The Commissioner observed that high storey buildings must be fitted with thunder arrestor as it mitigates potential accidents caused by othunder especially during raining season.

“Earthing is necessary to prevent users from dangers of electric shock and electrical appliances from destruction as a result of power surge,” he said.
Lawan who visited asphalt plant unit of the ministry said 17000 metric tonnes of crushed stones have equally been procured from various locations, all with a view to commencing massive construction of roads in the State.

Addressing Newsmen after the tour, Adamu Lawan disclosed that the Gamboru Ngala to Rann and that of Kala Balge, as well as dualisation of Damboa roads and construction of Dikwa Ngala Federal roads, would begin soon.
