Borno govt earmarks N2bn for payment of pensions and gratuities

The Nigeria Union of Journalists Borno State Council has called on Government to train workers to enable it to cover the gap created by retired Civil Servants.
The State Council of the Union, Baba Sheirk Haruna made the call when he led other executive members on a courtesy call on the newly appointed Head of Service Architect Yerima Saleh in his office.
Haruna stressed the need for Government to promptly pay gratuity and pension of retirees to make life bearable for the retired Civil servants.
Responding, the Head of Service Architect Yerima Saleh said already, the State Government has injected one billion Naira to cater for gratuity and pensions of the State and Local Government retirees.
According to him, Governor Kashim Shettima has given a marching order for the complete transformation of the civil service, adding the condition of the service secretariat and in-house training for civil servants will be improved.
