Brilliant Fulani girl honored in Delta for exceptional talent

Miss Ummul-khairi Ibrahim, a gifted young Fulani student from Delta State, receives accolades and awards for her outstanding academic and creative achievements. The recognition comes on 2 October 2024, when Hon. Onoriode Ofoni, Chairman of the Uvwie Local Government Council, celebrates her at a special event held at the palace of the Ovie of Uvwie.

Ummul-khairi, a Primary 5 pupil at David Ejoor Primary School located in Effurun Barracks, captivates the audience with her original poem titled “Together as One People.” Her moving performance earns her a cash prize of ₦50,000, new school uniforms, essential learning materials, and a maintenance plan to support her educational needs.

Hon. Ofoni commends Ummul-khairi for her talent and determination, emphasising his commitment to nurturing young talent within the Uvwie Local Government Area. In a gesture of honour, he gives her the title “Efe,” officially recognising her as an honorary indigene of Uvwie. He encourages her to remain dedicated to her studies and to continue developing her talents.

Ummul-khairi’s father, Malam Ibrahim, is unable to attend due to health issues and is represented by his brother at the ceremony. Expressing his gratitude on behalf of the family, Malam Ibrahim’s brother, thanks Hon. Ofoni for his generosity and support, highlighting the impact this recognition will have on Ummul-khairi’s future aspirations.

This recognition reflects the Uvwie Local Government’s ongoing support for educational excellence and youth empowerment, with Hon. Ofoni reiterating his commitment to creating opportunities for young, talented individuals like Ummul-khairi to thrive.
