Community urges kogi gov’t to fix deplorable township roads

Story from Rabi’atu, Lokoja

The Felele Community in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, has appealed to the State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to help in rehabilitating the deplorable Felele township roads.

Leaders of the community made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja.

They stressed that the deplorable condition of the township road has added to their plights.

Speaking with our correspondent, one of the leaders in the community, Pastor Ojo Francis described the roads as terribly bad.

Pastor Francis stated that the people living in some of the streets are completely cut off from Lokoja town.

“This road is terribly bad, people on one side cannot go to the people on the other side. We have been cut off from our neighbours, this is too bad.

He disclosed that the road has been in that condition for long, pointing out that the last time the authority of Lokoja local government made any effort to fix it was in 2010 but unfortunately nothing was done.

A resident, Mr Sunday Onishile, who decried the deplorable condition of the road said the situation has brought the socio-economic life of the people into jeopardy.

Mr Onishile claimed this has led to a situation where nothing works in the area as most of them who have vehicles have either abandoned or park them and trek one point five kilometer to their destinations.
