Country music star, Don Williams dies at 78

Country music star, Don Williams, has been reported to have passed away.
Williams died on Friday in Mobile County, Alabama, United States, at age 78.
His publicist, Kirt Webster announced sthat the cause of the singer’s death was emphysema.
Williams was born May 27, 1939, in Floydada, Texas.
Music had always been close to Williams’ heart. He entered his first talent contest and won, earning a brand new alarm clock at the age of three.
During his teenage years, Williams played in a band with several friends and started a family after graduating high school, marrying his wife Joy in April 1960.
From 1974 to 1984, 17 of Williams singles, including “You’re My Best Friend” and “Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good,” reached the top of the Billboard country chart.
He was named male vocalist of the year by the Country Music Association in 1978 and released 52 Top 40 country singles in all, 45 of them rising as high as the Top 10 before the hits stopped coming in the 1990s.
Nicknamed the Gentle Giant, Williams music extolled the virtues of romantic commitments and love.
