Court sentences man to 15 years for raping friend’s wife
A Jigawa State High Court 4 sitting in Dutse has sentenced a man identified as Isa Ahmad to 15 years imprisonment for raping his friend’s wife.
Justice Ahmed Muhammad Abubakar of the High Court while delivering the verdict, said the accused was arraigned before the court for the offence of house trespass and rape, adding that the offence is contrary to Section 282 and 348 respectively.

Justice A. M. Abubakar, in his judgement, narrated that the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond a reasonable doubt.
According to the judge, the court used confessional statements and two witnesses to convict the suspect.
“The court convicted and jailed him five years imprisonment for trespass and 10 years for rape both punishable under Section 282 & 348 respectively,” he said.
However, the prosecution counsel had previously briefed the court that, “the convict earlier came down from Potaskum to Dankunama village, Jahun local government area of Jigawa State for a visit to his best friend whom they were together for quite a period.
“Later, the convict’s friend left for a travel and the convict made a U-turn and entered the matrimonial home of his best friend and raped his wife of 20 years old.”
