The directive was issued through the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education, which instructed school principals and administrators to ensure strict compliance. The ministry warned that any form of Valentine-related party or activity within school premises would not be tolerated.

According to the circular, the decision was taken to safeguard students’ academic focus and maintain discipline within schools. Authorities expressed concern that Valentine-themed celebrations often distract students from their studies and could promote inappropriate conduct.

School heads have been directed to monitor activities closely and prevent the organisation of parties, gift exchanges or any programme associated with Valentine’s Day during school hours.

The state government reiterated its commitment to upholding educational standards and creating a conducive learning environment for students across Delta State.

The directive takes immediate effect.
