DSS nabs high profile weapons supplier linked to Northern attacks

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Musa Abubakar, a suspected major arms supplier, during a targeted operation in Plateau State.
Abubakar was apprehended on November 12, 2025, in Mista Ali, Bassa Local Government Area, after months of intelligence gathering and coordinated surveillance efforts by the security agency.
According to DSS officials, the suspect confessed to producing and distributing high-caliber firearms and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to criminal groups responsible for bandit attacks, communal violence, and other armed assaults across Plateau and neighboring northern states.

During the raid, operatives recovered a cache of materials, including explosive chemicals, metal fabrication tools, detonators, and several partially assembled weapons believed to be destined for criminal networks.
The breakthrough comes shortly after the DSS rearrested Abdulazeez Obadaki, an influential Ansaru terrorist who escaped from Kuje Correctional Centre in July 2022. Obadaki had been linked to several high-profile attacks, such as the Uromi bank robberies and the shooting at Deeper Life College in Okene.
The DSS says both arrests mark significant progress in ongoing efforts to disrupt arms supply chains and dismantle terror networks across the region.
