DSS sacks 115 officers in major internal reform drive
The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 of its personnel as part of a sweeping internal reform aimed at strengthening professionalism and discipline within the agency.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, the secret police said the affected officers were relieved of their duties following an internal review process.

The DSS also cautioned members of the public against engaging with the dismissed personnel under any guise, stressing that they no longer represent the service in any capacity.
The move is part of the agency’s broader efforts to enhance operational integrity and accountability.
In a public notice released on Tuesday, the DSS cautioned Nigerians against engaging with the dismissed officers or anyone falsely claiming to represent the service.
“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.
The agency further warned against the fraudulent activities of certain ex-officers, including Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, who continue to impersonate DSS operatives despite being officially dismissed.

This development comes amid a wave of changes across Nigeria’s security architecture following reports of an attempted coup. While the Federal Government has not confirmed or denied the alleged plot, President Bola Tinubu recently sacked several service chiefs, and some security personnel are reportedly in detention over their alleged involvement.
