Edo police rescue two kidnap victims

Edo State Police Command has rescued two kidnap victims along Lagos Bypass by Ahor community, Benin City on April 25.

Philip Aliyu Ogbadu, the state Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident to journalists in Benin City on Thursday.

“On receipt of the information on kidnapping, the police operatives immediately swung into action and rescued two of the victims after a gun battle with the hoodlums.”

The victims were identified as Okeke Emmanuel, 37, and Rilwan Adewale, 36, who were kidnapped in Benin City by gunmen, on their way from Port Harcourt to Lagos. They were taken into the bush where they also met other victims.

CP Ogbadu added that in the process of the rescue, Adewale Rilwan sustained injuries from a machete used on him by the hoodlums and is receiving treatment in the hospital.

While investigations are still ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers, the sum of N200,000 was recovered from the scene.
