EFCC arrests three over alleged vote Buying in Anambra governorship election

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three individuals for alleged vote buying during Saturday’s Anambra governorship election.
In a statement released via its official X handle on November 8, 2025, the anti-graft agency confirmed that its operatives apprehended the suspects at different polling locations across the state while monitoring the electoral process.
Those arrested include Emeka Ilokasia, picked up at Ward 2, Njikoka Local Government Area; Nwachukwu Loretta, arrested at Ward 2 (008), Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area; and Emuka Chuwudi, caught at Umunachi Village, Dunukofia Local Government Area.

According to the EFCC, the operation was part of its ongoing efforts to curb financial inducement and voter manipulation during elections, in line with its mandate to promote transparency and integrity in Nigeria’s democratic process.
“All the suspects were apprehended while participating in the governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025,” the Commission stated, adding that they would be charged to court after investigations are completed.

Although the EFCC did not officially confirm the political affiliations of the suspects, one of them was reportedly wearing an APGA identification tag at the time of arrest.
