EFCC rearrests controversial Kano influencer, Murja Kunya

Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a controversial TikTok influencer, haNotably, this is not Kunya’s first encounter with legal issues; she was arrested in January 2023 for allegedly creating immoral content and displaying indecent exposure on social media.s been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano over allegations of naira mutilation.

SaharaReporters gathered that Kunya was taken into custody on Saturday following accusations of currency misuse.

Reports indicate that she had previously been arrested and was scheduled for arraignment three weeks earlier but allegedly escaped from custody before she could be charged.

Confirming the arrest on Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated, “She was earlier arrested, and she was supposed to be arraigned three weeks ago but jumped bail and she was rearrested again on Saturday. She is now in our custody”, Oyewale further disclosed.

He said that Kunya would soon be charged in court for her alleged offences.

The EFCC has issued a warning against improper handling of the naira, such as spraying, mutilating, or breaching financial regulations.

Notably, this is not Kunya’s first encounter with legal issues; she was arrested in January 2023 for allegedly creating immoral content and displaying indecent exposure on social media.
