Eid-al-Fitr fasting continues on Saturday – NSCIA

Muslims are to continue fasting on Saturday, The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has declared.

Its National Moonsighting Committee said no moon was sighted in Nigeria on Friday.

The committee tweeted on Friday: “There was no positive sighting report of the Shawwal crescent in Nigeria, tomorrow is 30 Ramadan. An official statement from the Sultanate will be released shortly.”

Several Muslims were already prepared to celebrate Eid-al-Fitri on Saturday.

The announcement by NSCIA means Ramadan fast will extend to 30 days in 2020.
