Facebook “killer-lover” remanded for murder of student

The accused face charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, possession of human parts, and armed robbery. The charges fall under sections 97, 221 of the Penal Code, Section 2 of the Kwara State Prohibition Law (Dealing in Human Parts) of 2018, and Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act CAP R11 of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Abdulrahman Bello, a self-proclaimed Islamic cleric, allegedly committed the crime with the assistance of his co-accused.

The individuals arraigned with Bello include: Ahmed Abdulwasiu (41), an Islamic scholar from 47 Adualere, Ilorin; Suleiman Muhyideen (28), a businessman from Adualere, Amilengbe; Jamiu Uthman (29), a phone repairer from Adualere; and Abdulrahman Jamiu (31), a farmer from Elemere village near Malete. Two additional suspects are currently at large.

The police prosecutor informed the court that the investigation revealed Bello and his accomplices were part of an occult group involved in the ritualistic killing of unsuspecting victims. The investigation showed that on February 14, 2025, the case was transferred from the Oja-Oba police division to the Anti-Robbery Section at the State CID for further investigation.

The FIR detailed how, on February 11, 2025, Adefalu Lawal Ibrahim, from Oju-Ekun Area, Ilorin, reported his daughter, Adefalu Hasfat Yetunde, missing after she left for a friend’s baby celebration on February 10, 2025. Despite multiple attempts to contact her, there was no response, prompting the family to file a report with the police.
