Taraba woman attacks teenager with razor over alleged affair with husband

In a disturbing incident from Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State, a married woman, Ramatu Abbas, allegedly attacked a 17-year-old girl, Iwasen Terhemba, with a razor blade over unfounded claims that the teenager was involved with her husband.

This case highlights the dangers minors face when caught in adult conflicts and underscores the urgent need for stronger child protection and community vigilance.

Local reports reveal that the girl had repeatedly rejected advances from Mr. Abbas, citing her age and his marital status. Instead of addressing her husband’s misconduct, Mrs. Abbas resorted to violence against the innocent teenager. The attack left the girl injured and traumatized, prompting widespread outrage in the community.

The teenager’s guardian had already tried to intervene peacefully by informing Mrs. Abbas about her husband’s harassment, but the warning went unheeded. Worse, the attacker reportedly threatened the victim and her guardian to keep silent, urging them not to seek help from authorities.

Authorities have confirmed the attack and assured that justice is underway. Mrs. Abbas has been charged in court, and the victim is receiving medical care.

This painful episode serves as a stark reminder that minors are vulnerable to abuse not only from strangers but also from those within their communities. It calls on parents, guardians, and community leaders to be vigilant, to protect children from harassment and violence, and to promote reporting and timely intervention.

Child protection is a shared responsibility — no allegation of abuse should be ignored or settled in secrecy. Communities must foster safe environments where every child can grow free from fear and harm.
